In this specific case study, the customer asked for a footprint reduction of the refrigeration equipment for a light industrial application with a standard transcritical CO₂ system, keeping the same cooling demand. EPTA already supplied refrigeration packs for a previous cold‑storage configuration, operated with three  ECO₂Large pack. The updated solution delivers multiple improvements, including reduced machine‑room space requirements, lower refrigerant volume, decreased logistics and technical‑service needs, and fewer spare‑parts requirements.

  • Lower footprint
Installation benefits

The benefits for the customer are mainly related to the system simplification that the new proposal offered. In details:

  • lower refrigeration pack footprint: the space occupied by the machines is significantly reduced, either improving serviceability or machinery room size;
  • lower installation costs: thanks to the lower number of connections to be done on site;
  • lower refrigerant charge: faster commissioning ;
  • lower logistics costs: two packs of the same size can fit a single 40' High Cube container, as shown in the rendering above;
  • fewer technical services and spare parts needed: thanks to the lower amount of components involved.

Finally, the proposed solution is also compatible with hot gas defrost option for future upgrades.
